Is it time for D.C.A. to discuss the possibility of AKC
registration of the descendants of the
Dalmatian-Pointer cross?
Vote YES for LUA and vote YES for health. The LUA/backcross project has been in existence for 35 years. In the very beginning, DCA voted NO to AKC registration and the project died, except for one courageous individual who kept the line alive in an attempt to solve the high uric acid/bladder stone formation in the Dalmatian breed. The DCA even went as far as to say members could not even discuss this issue. What kind of a stand is that for a breed club to take ON A HEALTH ISSUE? For 30 years the project has sat waiting for another to take the reigns. It is our time to become involved. AKC registration is necessary to attract individuals to partake in this project. Many DCA breeders simply do not have room in the homes for non-competition dogs. In order to bring this project to where it is completely successful, we need the best the fancy has to offer. With the help of those people, the next 30 years will produce a dog completely indistinguishable from other Dalmatians. If this is not your adventure that's ok too, but please do not limit others in an attempt to combat this expensive and often deadly hereditary disease. A NO vote will be a repeat of the last 30 years. Vote YES on LUA. Thank you, Carol Chase Healy |
