Is it time for D.C.A. to discuss the possibility of AKC
registration of the descendants of the
Dalmatian-Pointer cross?

Response by Carol McGrogan

There are a lot of breeds and I use the word loosely that are accepted by the AKC and the Canadian Kennel Club as purebreds that are actually crosses of three and four different breeds. Check the backgrounds and find out how many breeds are actually manmade. There are some AKC and CKC breeds that have to cross breed every few generations to keep their colour. There are very few breeds that are pure, just the primitive breeds that have been around since day one; and you people are having a problem with one dog!

I will never have another male Dalmatian unless it is LUA. Having been through the blocking, never again.

I have been reading the posts from all of you and those of you working with the LUA project may as well give up trying to convince some people. There are a lot of people wearing blinders and they will never take them off no matter what you do because they will always find something else to bitch about. They want testing done on the LUA and HUA dogs that they are not doing on their own. To see where the differences lie, the testing should be done on the LUA, HUA, and AKC dogs. What genes do the LUA dogs have that the HUA and AKC dogs don't. What is the difference between the HUA and AKC Dals? I don't care about the spotting. I want to know about the health. After all, isn't this what this is supposed to be about - the health? What good is a stone forming, blocking, beautifully, spotted dog? No good as far as I am concerned. Been there, done that. Now don't get me wrong, spotting on a Dalmatian is important but not to the detriment of its health.

Just my thoughts for what they are worth which is probably zilch.
