Current Ballot
Submitted: August 15th, 2008
Vote Due: October 1st, 2008
Is it time for D.C.A. to discuss the possibility of AKC
registration of the descendants of the
Dalmatian-Pointer cross?
Unless I have misinterpreted something in what DCA President Dr Garvin posted, especially paying attention to the 3rd paragraph from the bottom, I do not understand a NO Vote to this particular Ballot. Those who are opposed, are stating that they require more testing. This is exactly what this vote is requiring if passed. Defining the parameters required by the majority, not only a Majority but a 2/3's majority vote to pass for registration. Exactly what do you think these requirements will be? I can tell you, the TESTING everyone's asking for! This is my interpretation of the post by our President. A Yes vote to this DOES NOT equate to a YES Vote for Registration at any time it is addressed, whether it is immediatly or whether it is 10 years from now. IF you DO want further research and a definition to what is required, then vote YES. EVEN IF you are steadfast against registration. If you want it buried and not researched, pursued, studied, etc. just plain
don't believe it, don't care whether it's proven or not for whatever reasons
you have, feel they are mutts, crossbreeds and ugly and it will never I firmly believe this is a matter that requires DCA Membership input from now on. Obviously, having it outside of DCA jurisdiction hasn't been productive. If you vote no, it will place this outside of DCA jurisdiction. It is imperative that both sides vote YES on this Ballot, so that the DCA can monitor this effort and determine whether this is worthwhile and can be PROVEN or to DISPROVE it and bury it, once and for all. I have to tell you all it is a real COMFORT to know that my LUA boy, Tommy
will have a greatly reduced chance of having a stone issue, much like the
tremendous feeling I had when I found out our Basenjis would not have to
face the dreaded Fanconi syndrome and as a breeder, would never have to Our "GOOD RIDDANCE FANCONI" party at the National last year-(which I coordinated)- was filled with people who were WEAPING at the idea of such a discovery within the Breed. SOBBING uncontrollably while they passed the collages presented of past Fanconi victims and those that are still suffering. CRYS Of VICTORY at the magnitude of our discovery. It was VERY emotional as Fanconi had touched most of our lives. And in the end, it is FOR THE DOGS. We can make a difference....YES WE CAN! VOTE YES! Jeffrey J Gillespie |
