When you receive your DCA ballot, I urge you to vote "YES."
This is not a vote for or against AKC registration at this time ... this is merely an effort by the DCA Board to move slowly and carefully (and not "shove anything down anyone's throat") to avoid a repeat of the infamous 1984 vote.
Two years ago the DCA Membership was polled asking if we wished to open up the discussion about the LUA ("backcross") program, and a majority of the DCA membership voted "Yes." That ballot did not cover any discussion of AKC registration.
Your "YES" vote NOW will simply open the discussion with the AKC and with the DCA membership about what would be required for the possible future AKC registration of LUA Dalmatians. (The question of registration will require a separate vote at some point in the future once the requirements are met.)
If you vote "No," you are saying that you don't believe the AKC parent club, DCA, should pursue further efforts to eventually register these Dalmatians with the AKC. If you're not sure yet, not completely convinced, or want more information, and believe the DCA should continue to look at the LUA Dalmatians, you should vote "Yes."
When you receive your DCA ballot, please vote "Yes" indicating your willingness to further explore the possibility of future AKC registration of the LUA Dalmatians
